The Way They Were
Fans of my photography will notice I have an affinity for the 1950’s. I love everything about it: from the fashion fads to the futuristic furniture.
One of the appeals the 1950’s holds for me is the way men were. Men were men. They played sports, yet they were gentlemen. Nowadays, a guy can’t slick his hair back and wear a suit without someone questioning his sanity or branding him a metrosexual (a trendy term I will hate forever).
The above shot is my tribute to the men of the mid-century. It was shot in the most unexpected of places: Kapiolani Park at the end of Waikiki. A very modern location, but given the right direction and composition, can transport you to a different time period.
