Concept to Completion: Kevin & Kim

Fans of our work know that the magic happens long before the camera comes out of the bag. From commercial to couple shoots, everything starts with a concept sketch. The purpose of the sketch is to establish the vibe/feeling of the shoot. Here’s a sketch-to-shoot comparison from a recent couple shoot we did with Kevin and Kim who were visiting from San Francisco.

They provided their own wardrobe, so I had a vague idea of what their outfits would look like, based off of some catalog images Kevin sent to me. I included the luggage into my sketch even before I made it. After the concept was approved, I bought the vintage luggage (actually a makeup case) and stuck all the luggage labels on there, which I cut by hand.

Stay tuned for more photos from this “lost in paradise” shoot!
