Pop-Up Photos for Abstract Magazine

I was assigned to create photos for an article in Abstract Magazine about the evolution of Chinatown and First Friday. I decided to create some elaborate pop-up dioramas to convey the colorful history of Chinatown.

With scissors, pens and tape I created cute little dioramas capturing scenes from the first steamboat arrival to the infamous Chinatown fires. While the images look as though they could be digitally created, you can see from my behind the scenes table shot that they were all meticulously crafted by my hand.

The issue of Abstract Magazine can be found all across Honolulu, check the Facebook page to see where you can your copy.
