2013 in review
2013 was filled with lots of amazing adventures, new friends, beautiful photos and way more traveling than I’ve ever done before!
2013 was the year Abstract Magazine launched. A quarterly art publication with an evolving style, each issue was always a different experience. As a staff photographer, I shot a lot of great conceptual art for each issue. Something the subject matter made for quick solutions, but sometimes the articles were a bit, well, abstract and required more thought. I loved churning out creative art for each issue and contributing to the magazine’s success.
Weddings and Couples
This year, I flew to california twice in one month to shoot weddings. For big-shot wedding photographers that’s probably kid’s play, but for me it was a big deal and quite an adventure. From the epic Disneyland Wedding of Katie and Aaron to the Island Boy / City Girl wedding of Ryan and Christine, it was EPIC.
This year, I got to work on some strong fashion editorials. I seized every opportunity to try new things and styles — from the Bonnie & Clyde inspired shoot with drag superstar Tammie Brown to the Great Gatsby fashion editorial — I tried new things and reinvented my vintage style.
2013 was also the year I introduced Cinemagraphs into my list of services. It’s the future of fashion and I’m trying to shoot them for more couples because it marries my love of film for my love of vintage style.
All things considered, I’d say 2013 was quite adventurous but I know areas where I’d like to improve and techniques and styles I’d like to try more. That’s where 2014 comes in and I can’t wait for it to begin!
Have a happy new year and see you in 2014!
